Ungreen Smoothie

  • 3 cups frozen mixed fruit (we used a "tropical" blend)
  • 1 fresh banana sliced
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 6 - 8 fresh strawberries sliced
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup soy milk
  • 2 teaspoons EasyKale®

  • Protein powder (if desired—use package instructions)

Whether you're a seasoned smoothie drinker or just getting into adding smoothies to your diet you'll find this recipe a nice basic platform for creating a healthy fruity drink. The advantages of EasyKale® really shine with this smoothie; typically a "green" smoothie using kale—or similar leafy greens—is (a.) much more difficult to make and (b.) has a "green" taste that's hard for many folks to enjoy. That's why we're calling this recipe the "UnGreen smoothie" -- each serving gets the benefits of a full cup of leafy kale but without having to prep the kale de-stem and—potentially—mess up your blender. And this smoothie has very little (if any) kale taste—it remains a tasty fruit smoothie.

1. Place all of the fruit in your blender adding most of the orange juice and soy milk. (You may want to keep some of it back to test for the consistency you want in the final smoothie.)

2. Blend the smoothie until all frozen fruit is liquified; add the yogurt and protein powder if you're using it. Blend again.

3. Next add the two teaspoons of EasyKale® and blend.

4. That's it! Pour into two pint glasses and enjoy a healthy antioxidant anti-inflammatory cocktail that tastes great. Oh there's something else you'll probably enjoy—the easy cleanup of your blender and work area!

Smoothie too thick? Add extra liquid to get the consistency you like!
